A mother-turned-entrepreneur is filling a gap in the marketplace.

After a mother of a daughter with Down syndrome had difficulty finding eyeglasses that fit her child, she came up with her own solution that is now turning into a commercial success, LifeNews.com writes.

The article says that when Maria Dellapina called eyewear makers telling them of the need for special glasses for people with Down syndrome, she was told that such a product wasn’t necessary. That motivated her to invent a pair of eyeglasses that provided a better fit, and after convincing a friend to invest $10,000 in her idea, she established a company called Specs4Us that is expected to sell more than 6,000 units this year.
