He sees the deal as a "win-win."

Dr. Kenneth Nuzzo, an optometrist in Maine, is retiring after 40 years — but his practice will carry on.

He's selling his practice to Vision Care of Maine, CentralMaine.com reports. And his three employees will have jobs with the company.

Vision Care of Maine, which has 100 employees, operates in Aroostook, Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.

Nuzzo has maintained offices in Winthrop and Hallowell, according to CentralMaine.com.

Nuzzo and his wife, Eileen, see the deal, which keeps ownership of his practice in-state, as a "win-win" for patients.

"We wanted them to have a place to go, and (the new owners) will provide so much more than we do," Eileen Nuzzo said.

The deal marks Vision Care of Maine's entry into the lower part of Maine.
