They debuted at Vision Expo East.

(Press Release) NEW YORK – At Vision Expo East, Costa announced the release of its OCEARCH Limited Edition sunglasses for 2017. The collection is rooted in Costa’s strong commitment to cause, exemplified by its 10-year partnership with OCEARCH, a group of explorers and scientists who are dedicated to generating previously unattainable data on the movement, biology and health of sharks.

Costa has supported OCEARCH’s expeditions to gather data on sharks that help maintain the ocean’s ecosystem. This year, for the first time, Costa has directly tied sunglass sales to a cause, with a portion of the limited edition collection’s proceeds being donated to OCEARCH.

The collection features 15 SKUs, including a new lens development combining Costas 580P grey base lens with a silver mirror, three new sunglass styles that embody the coast and eight best-selling Costa styles with a new look that mirrors the hues and patterns found on sharks.

Drawing inspiration from the habitats and biology of sharks, these OCEARCH Limited Edition sunglasses feature three new styles: the Half Moon (shown here), Remora and Rincon. INVISION CostaThe collection weaves in the rich colors of sharks with the introduction of new frame colors, including Sea Glass, Smoke Crystal and Tiger Shark, which is a unique take on the classic Tortoise style. All sunglasses are available in plano and Rx.

“One of the key observations we’ve seen with our conversation and cause efforts is that they appeal to a broad array of ages and lifestyles. The 2017 OCEARCH Limited Edition collection is a perfect embodiment of that – and of what we consider the new Costa customer – someone with a true costal lifestyle and mindset,” said John Sanchez, vice president, product development, Costa. “From the design inspiration, to the new frame colors and shark-inspired patterns, as well as the new combination of the silver mirror on the grey lens, we’re excited about the appeal of this collection and gratified to be able to help OCEARCH continue their important work.”

As part of the collection, each pair of OCEARCH Limited Edition sunglasses are packaged in a specially designed box with a case, C-Mask neck gaiter, cleaning cloth and lens sticker.

“The OCEARCH Limited Edition sunglasses designed by our friends at Costa are a unique way to celebrate the beauty and importance of sharks in our oceans,” said founding chairman and expedition leader Chris Fischer, OCEARCH. “It’s vital for more people to understand that sharks are in trouble, and without them, our ocean ecosystem can collapse. The purchase of these sunglasses will help fund our expeditions and conservation outreach efforts to protect as many sharks as possible.”

The Costa OCEARCH Limited Edition collection styles range in retail from $149 to $249. The styles are available in May at www.costadelmar.com and at authorized participating Costa retail partners.
