Caution: Space Travel May Be Harmful to the Eyes

Astronauts report moderate to severe eye problems after missions.

Acknowledging that many astronauts experience moderate to severe eye problems following space missions, NASA is seeking to fund projects related to the as yet unknown cause of post-flight vision changes. “This is very high priority for NASA,” said a spokesman for the agency, noting that vision poses the number two risk for astronauts.
