CDC Warns Against Improper Contact Lens Usage


One-fifth of contact-related infections result in eye damage, agency says.

A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says serious eye damage can result from the misuse of contact lenses, according to U.S. News & World Report. The article says that the agency estimates about 20 percent of contact lens-related eye infections result in eye damage. The CDC recommends that patients not sleep with their contact lenses in, and that they not combine old and new contact solution.
