The Helen Keller Foundation’s ChildSight program gets a strong endorsement from a New York Times writer who cites numerous statistics supporting its mission to provide vision-screening to children in poor communities in this country and abroad. In the U.S., says the article, “nearly 12 percent of people age 12 and older have an inadequately corrected refractive error, with the problem most common among Mexican Americans, non-Hispanic blacks and young people 12 to 19.”
