Cosmetic Mogul’s Entry Into Sunglasses Market is a Bit Perverse


Toni Ko’s new eyewear brand has an attention-getting name.

After Toni Ko sold her cosmetics business, a non-compete agreement prevented her from working in the beauty industry, Bustle reports, and so she started PERVERSE, a burgeoning sunglasses company. According to the article, Ko identified an opportunity in the sunglasses space between expensive brands and cheap brands. "It was an industry where I could bring my strong suit," she says," which was building a brand within a price category that is an aspirational price point -- basically selling really good products at a really good price point packaged really beautifully." PERVERSE plans to open 125 stores in the next five years.
