British firm offer options beyond 'grannyish' designs.
British frame company Eyespace is introducing stylish frames meant for mature, fashion-aware women, Optometry Today reports. The article quotes Eyespace marketing manager Nicky Clement, who says baby boomers have long been fashion-conscious and will remain so in retirement. The new frames are made of lightweight materials like titanium, because older people are likely to wear glasses continuously, and their skin can be delicate and thin as a result of the aging process. The designs are meant to be "classic enough to be age-appropriate," Clement says, "but staying clear of classic grannyish character."
