Federal Grants Will Help Establish Eastern Kentucky Optometry School

Nearly $7.5 million in federal grant money will go toward establishing a college of optometry at the University of Pikeville in Eastern Kentucky, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports. According to the article, money from the U.S. Economic Development Administration and the Appalachian Regional Commission will go to the school, which will be the second optometry college in the Appalachian region. The school aims to graduate 60 optometrists in its first three years.
