It Took Months for the VA to Correctly Fill This Veteran’s Eyeglasses Prescription

He waited … And he waited … And he waited some more.

Frank Orsini, a 79-year-old veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962 in Germany, had one heck of a time getting his eyeglasses prescription filled by the Veterans Administration, as The Times of Northwest Indiana details.

Following cataract surgery in May of last year, the Chicago hospital that performed the surgery was supposed to send a prescription for new eyeglasses to a VA clinic in Indiana. What followed was a string of mishaps and absurd waiting times that left Orsini bewildered as to how this process could take so long, prompting one U.S. Congressman to call the debacle an “unacceptable situation.”
