The Atlantic talks to a 23-year veteran.
The Atlantic interviews California optometrist Hilary Hawthorne about her perspective on the profession after 23 years in the business. The Pacific University College of Optometry graduate says optometry offers regular hours, and that the patients are, in general, pretty healthy. "Their concerns are conditions," she says. She is concerned about patients having the time or ability to visit doctors' offices, but worries about technology purporting to provide eye tests online. "We have a lot of misconceptions that that is a sufficient substitute, and it is not," she says.
