Speaking at the recent SECO 2016 educational conference in Atlanta, optometrist Niall Farnon of MCOptom outlined the different factors to consider when prescribing contact lenses for athletes, Optometry Times writes. The article – noting that “discovering these athletes among your patients may open up a whole new avenue for your contact lens practice” – lists a handful of factors that he recommends be discussed with active patients. “This is a different market than your regular patients,” said Dr. Farnon. “But hopefully, you’ll see that it’s not too different—it’s just a matter of listening to the patient, his requirements, and what he needs, because nowadays, we certainly have the tools.”
