Aging population, greater glasses acceptance driving market.
The global eyewear market is expected to reach $184 million by 2024, according to Digital Journal. The article, which cites a study by Grand View Research, says the market will be driven by an aging population, greater acceptance of glasses and rising disposable income worldwide. The Grand View report also notes that customers increasingly are buying eyewear online, and that spectacles, meaning frames and lenses, make up 50 percent of the global eyewear market. Contact lenses account for more than 30 percent of the market.
