VSP Global Readies Prototype of Fitness-Tracking Glasses

The eyewear is meant to be less conspicuously techie than Google Glass.

Eyewear firm VSP Global is partnering with the University of Southern California on Level, a prototype for glasses that double as fitness trackers, according to a report from Mashable. Previously VSP partnered with Google on the ill-fated Google Glass project. Level frames (shown) will not be as conspicuously technological as Google Glass, the article notes. VSP is working with USC's Center for Body Computing on the Level project, which bring features familiar from devices like the FitBit and Apple Watch to eyewear. No consumer version is currently planned for Level, but the results of the prototype program will be published in 2017.
