ABB OPTICAL GROUP Joins Industry in Supporting Charitable Causes

The SUNY College of Optometry’s 12th Annual Eyes on New York gala, held during Vision Expo East, paid tribute to the optical industry’s philanthropic efforts and recognized ABB OPTICAL GROUP for its leadership in the industry and the community.

“Across the board, our industry has a significant impact on national and local charitable organizations in communities across the country,” said Angel Alvarez, founder and CEO of ABB OPTICAL GROUP. “The optical community, as a whole, is very philanthropic and we are proud to support and be a part of that.”

ABB OPTICAL GROUP joins with eye care professionals in donating annually to vision-related charitable organizations as well as educational and human services organizations. In 2014, the company donated more than $180,000 to charities across the country, which includes employee donations, company matches and corporate donations.

One of the highlights of 2014 was ABB OPTICAL GROUP’s launch of ABB Cares, a signature annual grants program for eye care professionals and their favorite charities. In the first year of the program, the company supported 10 charities nationwide, nominated by eye care professionals that made a significant impact on the communities they serve.

Also in 2014, ABB OPTICAL GROUP announced a $25,000 match for donations made to Optometry Cares, in support of the organization's mission to expand eye health and vision care access to everyone in the U.S.

“Today, it is extremely important that we all give back in the communities where we live and do business,” said Alvarez. Our passion for supporting industry causes and other philanthropic endeavors has become part of the fabric of ABB’s identity and we are proud that our employees participate in various fundraising events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year in support of these efforts.”
