(Press Release) Essilor of America has launched Essilor Colors, a new line of sun lenses available in a range of colors and gradients.

On September 8, consumers will be able to select from a variety of color options — six tints, six gradients and three mirrors — for up to 48 custom color combinations. Lens color choices feature gray mist, sienna brown, forest gray, emerald blue, grape and plum.

These colors can be combined with gold, blue and silver mirror effects. All colors are available in 1.5 standard plastic or polycarbonate prescription lenses and in single vision and full back side progressive designs.

The new Essilor Colors will utilize a specialized lab process and machinery to provide wearers with benefits such as longer lasting and consistent color and will be available as Xperio UV™ polarized sun lenses, Crizal Sunshield UV tinted lenses, standard polarized and standard tinted lenses.

“The prescription sun lens market has historically been slow to match the offerings of the plano market,” said Lauri Crawford, senior vice president of marketing, Essilor of America. “Now, sunglass wearers who are looking for more fashionable and self-expressive options can enjoy the benefits of Essilor Colors without compromising on aesthetics.”

Essilor Colors with Xperio UV lenses provide patients with maximum UV protection by reducing the amount of glare from reflective surfaces on both the front and backside of the lens.

Xperio UV lenses provide an Eye-Sun Protection Factor (E-SPF®) of 50+, meaning the eyes are 50 times better protected from UV than they are without any eyewear.

Xperio UV lenses in color tints also offer unparalleled scratch resistance and sharp outdoor color perception.
