(Press Release)
FoxFire Systems Group is paving the way for ophthalmic-specific EHR providers, developing the first interface for the Kansas Health Information Network.

FoxFire Systems Group will be the first EHR provider in optometry and ophthalmology to offer the interface, closing the gap of the last remaining specialties yet to offer health information exchange in Kansas. Launching by the end of the year, FoxFire will offer Kansas providers the ability to submit patient information and be eligible to receive incentive money for participation.

Software developers at FoxFire Systems Group are currently developing an interface to connect FoxFire EHR software with the Kansas Health Information Network. Utilizing the interface, patient data and health record information will be available for health information exchange across the state of Kansas.

FoxFire aims to begin testing the interface in mid-December with an estimated launch in early 2016. While FoxFire’s software currently allows for patient health information exchange between referring providers, this unique interface will take it a step further, allowing providers to exchange information with other providers statewide.

The KHIN is a secure exchange connection aimed to collect all health record information across specialties for individuals across Kansas. This core technology promotes a simpler, more secure exchange of information and allows the analysis of individual healthcare at the state level. While other specialties such as family practice or internal medicine are already interfacing, FoxFire will be the first to tackle it in optometry and ophthalmology.

Through interfaces such as this, providers will have access to the most current, up-to-date patient information and will be able to meet the requirements of Meaningful Use. The interface assists providers in submitting and exchanging patient information to better manage patient care across a multitude of specialties.

“We are pleased that FoxFire has stepped in to build interfaces to KHIN for their system,” said Gary Robbins, Executive Director of the Kansas Optometric Association. “It will increase the opportunity for their users to input data into the exchange and allow them to receive higher Blue Cross Blue Shield incentive payments.”

FoxFire Systems Group aims to offer clients the most innovative software and tools to manage patient care. Recognizing the necessity and positive impact on both providers and patients, FoxFire Systems Group is eager to assist the KHIN.

“FoxFire is committed to success and serving our ophthalmic partners in Kansas,” said Korry Petterson, President, FoxFire Systems Group. “We aim to ensure our doctors are on the leading edge of technology and the Kansas Health Information Network is the first health information exchange to be this far along.”

FoxFire will be implementing the interface in early 2016 and analyzing the positive results of the collaboration.
