Don’t miss your chance to stretch your legs and “be like Rocky” at the Optometry Cares 5K Run/Walk, hosted and organized by Optometry Cares — The AOA Foundation, the American Optometric Association’s charitable foundation.

The event will help support the mission of Optometry Cares, which works to help expand eye health and vision care access to everyone in the United States for a higher quality of life. Generous sponsors of the 5K Run/Walk are The Vision Council and Transitions.

The Optometry Cares 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, June 28, at 6:30 a.m., beginning at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, also known as the “Rocky Steps,” made famous by the popular film, “Rocky.”

The 5K Run/Walk is open to all who are attending Optometry’s Meeting, which will take place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, from Wednesday, June 25, through Sunday, June 29.

Shuttle buses will take race participants to the starting location and begin departing at 5:30 a.m. from North 12th at Race Street. The buses will depart as they fill up and loop back to pick up participants who arrive later in the morning.  The buses will begin returning the participants to this location starting at 7:30 a.m. A race route is available on Optometry Cares’ website at www.aoafoundation.org

Those interested in participating in the 5K Run/Walk must register online for Optometry’s Meeting at www.optometrysmeeting.org.
