MINNEAPOLIS – Walman has announced that Mildred Curtis and Jon Dymit have been elected to its board of directors. Curtis and Dymit replace recent retirees Al Willenbring, Craig Giles and Mark Parker.

Curtis joins the board with more than 20 years of experience in the optical industry and a rich background in legal and human resources. Starting off her career as an attorney for the Department of Justice, Antitrust Division in Washington D.C., she then moved to Lenscrafters where she served as the senior vice president of legal and human resources. When Lenscrafters was acquired by Luxottica, Curtis became part of Luxottica’s executive group and earned the role of senior vice president of human resources. Curtis holds a juris doctorate degree from the University of Cincinnati and is now retired. She resides in Temecula, CA with her husband.

Dymit joins the board with more than 35 years of service to the optical industry. Dymit began his career with Walman Optical while attending the University of Minnesota. After college, he became a sales representative for Walman Optical and then for Walman Instruments, later moving on to become the director of sales for SOLA Optical USA. In 1998, Dymit rejoined the Walman Instruments team and continues to serve as the vice president and general manager of the division. He also recently became the chair of Walman’s Charitable Giving Committee. Dymit resides in Prior Lake, MN with his wife.

“We are fortunate to have these two excellent additions to our board,” says Marty Bassett, president and CEO of Walman and chairman of the board. “Mildred and Jon both have a wealth of experience and the exceptional integrity needed to act in the best interest of the company.”
