Customers enter through a covered patio. Gogosha Optique is situated in Echo Park, between Hollywood and downtown, adjoining the ‘hipster’ enclave of Silver Lake and within walking distance of Dodger Stadium.

Owner Julia Gogosha describes the indoor-outdoor space at Gogosha Optique as a ‘modular Tetris cathedral.’

The design of the optical was inspired in part by American conceptual and minimalist artist Sol LeWitt and the geometric shapes and patterns of the early 20th-century Dutch art movement De Stijl.

“Every design element is [intended] to elevate the client experience,” says owner Julia Gogosha.

A dispensary with a lab and no doctor, Gogosha Optique accepts no insurances and offers no mass-produced frame lines, with its top brands at the moment being Jacques Marie Mage, Ahlem and Kuboraum.

Gogosha Optique reflects its owner’s belief in the value of following one’s own compass rather than looking to what others are doing, “Informed by the past, creating an elevating experience as we usher in the future.”
