The holiday season means a lot of things to a lot of people.

It is the season of joy. It is the season of giving. And, of course, it is the season of high stress and anxiety as people jockey for position in stores, parking lots, and on the work calendar.

(Oh, Leo, you had us at “Happy.”)

We hope you enjoy these holiday-related memes.

Most, but not all, are geared toward those unfortunate souls that have to work in the department stores and optical boutiques of our fine communities during this frantic time of year.

Cheers to you all as we commiserate and laugh alongside you. And may we all find a slice of merriment this holiday season!

This is the worst.

After a long shift, the last thing you want to do is plaster on one more smile.

😀

The social calendar can get pretty busy what with family and friends planning holiday gatherings.

Then you realize you have to close that day.

Yeah.  A lot of stuff is just going to have to wait until January.

Hopefully, your back room is equipped with a large broom and an even larger rug. Take the one and sweep everything under the other.

The pain is real, folks.

(Try staring at that precious face and not feel something.)

Oh, Grumpy Cat, you had us at “No.”

This meme could use a post-pandemic refresh.

Maybe something like: “The office holiday party is a great place to finally meet the coworkers you Zoom with every day.”

We’ve found that most people don’t really care.

However, those who do, really do.

Oh, snap! See what we did there? We slipped in a  swipe at those we’ve been commiserating with!

Sneaky.

By the time this holiday season is over, many of us are bound to feel like we need a holiday.

The gift card truly is one of life’s best last resorts.

The fingers-crossed holiday schedule check chant: “Please let me have Saturday off. Please let me have Saturday off. Please let me have Saturday off.”

May the odds of having friendly, reasonable customers be ever in your favor.

(P.S. If you can only pick one item to ensure your survival, go for the comfortable shoes.)

Some people just can’t wait or get enough of the holiday season.

Some people spend months dreading the holidays.

What say you?

The seasonal crew is like a box of chocolates…

You’d think with child labor laws these days…

Oh, Maury, you had us at “So.”

Mariah Carey’s lexicon of holiday music is like a stack of pancakes.

“You’re all happy at first, but then by the end, you’re sick of ’em.”

(R.I.P. comedian Mitch Hedberg)

You know it’s gonna happen.

Maybe it isn’t what it was. But it still is unlike anything you’ve ever faced.

Seriously, there’s something about the holidays that has people abandoning reason for madness!

Actually, this meme is out of date.

We heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it from another some big boxes had been messing around with Christmas displays in August!

Imagine a world in which Christmas music played throughout the year, everywhere you went.

Odds are civilization as we know it would pull a Caesar and not make it past the Ides of March.

Remember to call the Christmas tree farm to see if they are open on a Wednesday.

Then let your kids’ teacher know they wont be in school on Tuesday because you’ve booked the 9:45 a.m. time slot with the mall Santa.

Long-time retail workers are known to have this nightmare in June, too.

Optical shops may be open on the Friday after, but at least it isn’t like this!

Is it just us, or do customers maybe not seem entirely sincere when they say this?

Or you may hear this equally insincere variation instead.

Life is hard. Some people make it much, much harder.

Michael Bublé seems like a genuinely nice person. (Makes sense, he’s Canadian.)

However, this visual is disturbingly pleasing. Much like the dulcet tones of his silky baritone.

Working with patients and customers during the holiday season sometimes means biting your tongue.

Mariah Carey Christmas music may get old for retail workers and customers and patients and, really, anybody with working ears, but memes about it never do.

And remember, once the holidays are done, you’ll have this to look forward to.
