It’s more than double the number needed.

Oklahomans for Consumer Freedom says it’s collected 255,000 signatures to support allowing eyecare services to be provided inside Wal-Mart and other big-box stores, NewsOK reports.

The group, which is supported by Wal-Mart, wants to get the issue onto the state ballot. It now has more than double the number of signatures required.

Oklahomans for Consumer Freedom has said its goal is to give consumers “more choices, better prices, convenience.”

However, Joel Robinson, head of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, has said the proposal is not a good idea, and could make things difficult for ECPs in small communities.
