$500K Theft: Man Sentenced for Selling Stolen Sunglasses Online

A judge has sentenced a Westminster, MD, man to prison for selling stolen sunglasses online.

Brian Nelson Halsey received a sentence of four years, nine months, the Baltimore Sun reports. Beyond that, he’ll serve three years of probation.

Halsey’s sentence followed a guilty plea. In all, the stolen merchandise was reported to be worth $500,000.

The 52-year-old Halsey worked with a co-conspirator named William Albert Engel, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland. Authorities said Engel stole the designer sunglasses from stores within shopping malls.

Authorities found about $200,000 in merchandise.

Engel has pleaded guilty and is set to be sentenced June 5.
