Safilo Group has acquired a 61.34% equity interest in Miami- based Privé Revaux for $67.5 million. David Schottenstein, co-founder and CEO, retains 15.5%, while the rest is held by celebrities Jamie Foxx, Hailee Steinfeld and Ashley Benson, senior management, and others. Private equity fund TSG Consumer Partners and its affiliates sold their entire stake to Safilo and other equity holders. Celeb favorite Privé Revaux distributes through an array of channels and retailers, online and off. In 2019, it posted net sales of approximately $20 million. safilo.com

Americans Fear Eyecare Costs

Versant Health released the results of its inaugural Vision Wellness Study, which explores perceptions of eyecare and its relation to overall health. It found that only 13 percent of Americans go to their eye doctor for both routine eyecare and to address potential symptoms of chronic conditions. But 84 percent say they’d be more likely to make an appointment if they were aware of the connection between eyecare and disease detection. CooperVision is taking submissions for its 2020 Science and Technology Awards. Submissions will be considered for interventions to slow myopia and technologies to improve CLs for presbyopia. The awards are open to those with an OD, MD, PhD or equivalent. Proposals may span proof-of-concept through translational stages and are eligible for two awards: The CooperVision Seedling Award for investigation of early stage concepts for a one-year period and $100,000 maximum grant and The CooperVision Translational Research Award, a two-year grant for substantive projects with funding up to $400,000.
