LL Retail & Research presented its holiday-spending review for the 2025 season by updating the beloved yuletide poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas (scroll down on link):
“’Twas the Season of Spending”
‘Twas deep in December, and all through the nation, Shoppers sought bargains to fight off inflation. The lists were half-finished, the work just ahead, with only 55% of the holiday shopping dread.
The budgets had crept up, a small, happy sight, up 1.4 percent, making spirits feel bright. Millennials spent most when the deals came to call, $700 per person, they outspent them all.
On Black Friday they clicked, the most popular day, while shopping online was the primary way. First Amazon, then Walmart, the leaders in might, as mass merchandisers won the holiday fight.
The average was spent, $603, on gifts, food, and items for under the tree. So they clicked and they shopped with a purpose so clear, wishing a happy new budget and a prosperous year.
