“We laugh — a lot,” says Rialeigh Yoder, when asked what her favorite parts of managing an eyecare business are, and in the nine years we’ve asked ECPs that question, that may be the first time we’ve ever received that answer! But it isn’t a surprising one coming from Yoder, who also lists as favorite parts: “I really enjoy seeing new hires with minimal experience blossom into amazing staff,” and “Every day is different. Some days I am edging glasses and ordering contacts, other days it is repairing equipment and chatting with lonely patients. It is never dull.” Of course, you can’t have the good without the bad — “knowing you have to let something slip because it isn’t the priority,” and “when a patient takes their bad day out on you” — but when she needs to unwind, she heads outside. “I like the wind when I am riding my motorcycle home or the stars when I am out backpacking. Nature grounds me.”
