AOA Names President, Other Officers and Board Members

The American Optometric Association held an election and swearing-in ceremony for its officers and board members.

William T. Reynolds, OD, is the new president of the AOA.

The AOA’s 2020-2021 board of trustees election and swearing-in ceremony took place virtually after the coronavirus pandemic required cancellation of Optometry’s Meeting 2020.

On Saturday, a swearing-in ceremony for the AOA board, along with the installation of William T. Reynolds, OD, as AOA president, was conducted via webinar.

The election was also shown via a special webinar broadcast on June 22, after affiliate members cast electronic ballots, validated and tallied by the accounting firm BKD. An online education experience, the AOA 2020 Virtual Learning Livecast, June 24-27, was also offered.

The results of AOA’s 2020-2021 board of trustees election are as follows:

Officers

• President William T. Reynolds, OD (Kentucky)
• President-elect Robert C. Layman, OD (Ohio)
• Vice President James P. DeVleming, OD (Washington)
• Secretary-Treasurer Ronald L. Benner, OD (Montana)
• Immediate Past President Barbara L. Horn, OD (South Carolina)

Trustees

• Terri A. Gossard, OD (Ohio)
• Curtis A. Ono, OD (Washington)

Not up for election this year but continuing to serve as AOA Trustees are Jacqueline Bowen, OD, Colorado; Teri K. Geist, OD, of Nebraska; Lori L. Grover, OD, PhD, of Illinois; and Steven T. Reed, OD, of Mississippi.
