Dr. Pabon will see patients at Atlantic Eye Institute’s Jacksonville and St. Augustine locations, where she will perform cataract, glaucoma and refractive surgeries within their state-of-the-art surgical center. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Pabon is known for her precision in surgical procedures and her warm, compassionate approach to patient care.

“I found the eye to be a very artistic structure. The first time I looked at an iris and a retina through a slit lamp, I was fascinated by their detail and beauty. I also find extremely rewarding to be able to change someone’s life within a few minutes doing cataract surgery,” said Dr. Sheila Pabon. “I decided to join Atlantic Eye Institute because I observed how the doctors enjoy and have fun working with each other. The atmosphere was that of a family.”

Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Dr. Pabon pursued her undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, graduating at the top of her class. During her medical training, she developed a passion for ophthalmology while conducting research at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Pabon completed her medical internship at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and her residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She then pursued a prestigious corneal fellowship under Dr. Francis Price Jr., at the Price Vision Group, further honing her skills in cornea pathology, cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of retinal disorders and glaucoma. Dr. Pabon remains at the forefront of her field, incorporating the latest advancements in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, such as the OMNI procedure, into her practice.
