Baseball great Cal Ripken partially credits a lifetime of razor-sharp vision with his exceptional 21-year career with the Baltimore Orioles. But “the Iron Man” is in his fifties now, and not long ago noticed that he was having trouble reading menus, newspapers — and the Teleprompter during his broadcasts for TBS Sports. This “life-changing moment,” as he describes it, led Ripkin to an eye doctor, and eventually to Transitions Optical, for which he is a new brand ambassador. His special interest is children, he says, hoping “to reinforce the importance of getting children to see an eyecare provider at an early age to prevent long-term damage.”
