On the fashion industry’s biggest day…

On the first Monday of May…

On a gray New York City spring day…

The 2023 Met Gala red carpet did not disappoint as celebrities showcased striking outfits, bold choices, and eye-catching eyewear.

The theme of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual event was iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld. The outspoken Lagerfeld, who died in 2019 at age 85, was a controversial choice for some. However, the German designer left an indelible imprint on the fashion industry, most notably during his more than three-decade turn as Creative Director at Chanel.

A-list attendees seemed to have no qualms in dressing “in honor of Karl.” Here are a few of the notable celebrities – and their eyewear – from this year’s affair.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky made a fashionably late arrival and were the last to walk the red carpet. Rihanna wore a Maison Valentino gown while Rocky donned a Gucci ensemble.

Both had on the appropriate eyewear: sunglasses. However, Rocky’s black pair were more in line with Lagerfeld’s personal look.

Pierce Brosnan, Roger Federer, and Ke Huy Quan all wore Oliver Peoples black sunglasses to the event.

Federer, who has 20 Grand Slam men’s tennis titles to his name, recently inked a deal with the eyewear company for an exclusive collection set to launch in spring of 2024.

Quan is coming off an Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actor in the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once. (Side note: It is worth a watch.)

Brosnan was James Bond. (Among other notable roles.) ‘Nuff said.
