A collection of eyeglasses that belonged to U.S. presidents has been purchased for $31,250, Tribune Content Agency reports.

The nine pairs were worn by Presidents Harry S. Truman, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, according to Nate D. Sanders Auctions, which sold the eyewear in Los Angeles. Many were accompanied by signed photos and letters from the presidents, Nate D. Sanders stated on its website.
Each pair of glasses was framed in its own presentation shadowbox.

The collection was compiled by ophthalmologist Spencer E. Sherman. They were part of the collection of the Museum of Ophthalmology, which he founded.
Tribune Content Agency writes that the collection attracted auction interest likely because “is it focused and attractive, and it offers items from VIP owners.”
