CLs Show ‘Remarkable Resilience’
The Contact Lens Institute (CLI) published the report Remarkable Resilience: Prescribing Contact Lenses in a Challenging Economy examining U.S. consumer behaviors influenced by inflationary pressures. Free to download from SeeTomorrowNow.com, the report polled 2,439 U.S. adults with 251 active CL wearers. Respondents ranked their CLs (84%) and glasses (75%) as extremely or very important — the highest among 26 categories of goods and services. Asked how inflation had altered spending, CLs (8%) and glasses (7%) exhibited the least change. Notably, 94% of CL wearers indicated they would make sacrifices in other areas first before giving up their contacts. contactlensinstitute.org
‘Look at the Lids’
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals launched the “Look at the Lids” campaign for Demodex blepharitis, a disease that affects some 25 million Americans. The campaign aims to encourage ECPs to screen for the disease in all patients to diagnose it sooner. Though extremely common, Demodex blepharitis can masquerade as ocular allergies or dry eye since the symptoms are similar and can be missed unless an ECP is looking for it. The campaign features real patients and includes educational tools and resources for ECPs, including a website, social media channels, and webinars. ECPs can subscribe to the Collarette Coalition email for news and information at lookatthelids.com. The website also allows ECPs to submit their own photos and videos to the ‘Lid Gallery’. lookatthelids.com
Retinal Imaging Market to Hit $3B by 2028
The retinal imaging devices market is estimated to reach $3 billion by 2028 from $2.06 billion in 2021, according to the study “The Retinal Imaging Devices Market” by The Insight Partners. The growth is driven by rising prevalence of eye diseases, growing global initiatives for blindness and technological advances. The U.S. held the largest share of the global market in 2021. The increasing adoption of new tech, rising R&D activities, growing usage of retinal imaging devices, and the presence of large healthcare businesses are expected to propel regional growth thanks to a rising prevalence of cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, open-angle glaucoma, and AMD. theinsightpartners.com/pr/retinal-imaging-devices-rid-market
