(Press Release) LAS VEGAS — Two years ago, CooperVision Inc. launched its Best Practices initiative to recognize the innovative and unexpected things that eyecare professionals do to provide the best possible care to patients, grow their practices and advance the profession. Since then, it has named 20 eye care practices throughout the U.S. as Best Practices honorees — and now, the search begins again.

At Vision Expo West in Las Vegas, CooperVision announced its third annual call for submissions for Best Practices. All U.S. optometry practices currently fitting contact lenses are eligible to apply.

“After two years of close partnership with our Best Practices honorees, I can say we have been blown away by our honorees’ various approaches toward patient care, practice management, community engagement, industry leadership, and more,” said Michele Andrews, OD, senior director of professional and academic affairs, North America, CooperVision. “Hearing all of their stories — and seeing the results of their efforts in their practices—is proof that there is no one way to success and everybody can find their niche. From private practice to corporate optometry, these honorees are contributing to the advancement of the profession in big ways and small. We are proud to kick off the third year of this initiative, and look forward to adding new perspective and expertise to our distinguished group of Best Practices in 2018.”

Best Practices candidates are encouraged to submit practice profiles and stories, sharing their insights and experiences in the following areas:

Innovation will be evaluated on contributions to the betterment of eye health and education, leveraging technology in interesting ways to grow the practice, and advancing the eye care profession among the public.

Industry Leadership will be rated on how a practice advances the profession and leads the industry regionally, nationally and even globally.

Patient Experience will be judged on how a practice delivers excellent eye care experiences and education to its patients, and unique aspects of patient care.

Candidates can choose to submit their stories via written response or video at www.EyeCareBestPractices.com. Applications will be accepted through Oct. 31, 2017, and will be reviewed by a panel of judges including past Best Practices honorees, industry experts, and CooperVision leaders. The 2018 Best Practices will be announced in early 2018.

Best Practices honorees are broadly recognized throughout the profession by serving on professional panels, showcasing their expertise within the eye care trade media, and representing the program at industry trade shows. They are also invited to attend educational meetings at CooperVision’s headquarters in Pleasanton, CA.

“To be honored as one of the Best Practices has been extremely rewarding to us this year,” said Stephanie Woo, OD, of Havasu Eye Center in Lake Havasu, AZ. “It is exciting to let patients know they are receiving eye care from the best in the nation, right here in our small town. We are proud to be recognized as a Best Practice throughout the national optometric community as well. It is a testament to the fact that no matter who you are and where you live, you can offer patients an excellent eye care experience with superior technology, innovation, and service.”
