Editor’s Note: Summer: A Time of Renewal

That goes for your subscription — plus new ways to work

Happy summer! The days are long, the kids are out of school and this is probably a little more relaxed time for your business. You may even find yourself dreaming of new ways to run your business and balance your life.
Since you have a little more time on your hands (we hope), here’s something to do right now: Renew your subscription to INVISION.

Yes, INVISION is free. (And that’s gotta be the best deal ever, right?) But every year, we do need your explicit confirmation that you still want to receive our smart, business-building advice. So if you haven’t filled out one of our subscription cards for a year or so, it’s time to renew. The easiest way is online at invisionmag.com/subscribe. Or look for the subscription card in this issue, fill it out and drop it in the mail (or send a photo of your completed card to circulation@invisionmag.com). Either way, you’ll be set for another free year of INVISION. Don’t forget. Because wouldn’t you hate it if we suddenly stopped appearing in your mailbox?

One of the coolest thing about vision care is the way it lends itself to unusual ways of working. Our Big Story, “Indies Rock,” tells how many of you have been inspired by entrepreneurs from other fields. We also have an article about six optometrists who’ve chosen to practice part time. One is just getting started; another is easing into retirement; all wanted more time for family, friends and hobbies.

Our America’s Finest profile this month comes from Oregon, where a go-getting young eye doc moved from Chicago — where he’d already launched one practice — to pursue a more laid-back life for his family. Next month, we’ll reveal the winners of our 2015 America’s Finest Optical Retailers contest, with 10 more examples of independent eyecare and eyewear pros who are reinventing the field in fascinating ways. It’s an issue you won’t want to miss, so be sure to renew that subscription now … and I’ll see you again in July.

Wishing you the best in business,
