Eyeglass Lass Has the Gift for Revealing Her Customers’ Innermost Selves




Far from mild mannered, The Eyeglass Lass’ alter ego is the illustrated woman known as Siobhán Burns. The owner of an optical boutique of the same name, The Eyeglass Lass has the unique superpower of revealing the wild and authentic selves lurking deep in the shadows of timid customers.

“I’m not trying to get everyone into the funkiest or craziest style,” she says. “I pride myself on finding them something updated that makes them feel like a million bucks.”

She recently used her transformative powers to find the right look for a woman in her 50s who believed tortoiseshell frames were the only frames that matched her face and personality.

“I told her that any frame could potentially ‘stand out,’ we just needed to make sure it was for the right reason,” says Burns. “She fell in love with the l.a. Eyeworks Horseshoe in Black & White Pixel, a cat eye with a pixelated front and inner layer of swirly, two-toned awesomeness. She was out of her comfort zone but you could see it in her eyes when she saw them in the mirror that this was the pair.”

Committing to new glasses is committing to how you appear to the world. It’s daunting. But Burns designed her shop to disarm anxious customers. There’s a pinball machine, an exciting frame selection from the likes of Andy Wolf and JF Rey, and the proprietor herself who exudes good taste and trust with a megawatt smile.

“It’s not intimidating. I’ll talk to anyone who comes in as if I’ve known them forever,” says Burns.


So, don’t let her tattoos fool you … a woman who can commit to a lifetime of beautiful skin art can inspire anyone to commit to new frames. Her superpower is an amalgam of truth and trust. Customers who believe in her will see themselves differently.
