One consultant warns that his glasses may be seen as an affectation.
Should newly announced Presidential candidate Rick Perry win the election, he would become the first Chief Executive since Harry Truman to wear glasses full-time while in office, notes the Washington Post. In the meantime, the media has begin to debate the political merits of former Texas governor’s “Soho architect-style” eyewear, which some have charged contain only plano lenses. Perry campaign aides have staunchly insisted that his glasses are prescription, but one consultant who has prominently worked for Democratic candidates says, “The question for voters isn’t so much whether Perry can see through his glasses, but whether they see through his attempt to be someone he’s not.”
