Eyewear App Promises to Read Human Emotions

Add-on for Google Glass can identify happiness, anger and surprise.

Just when you thought the short-term future of technology couldn’t get any creepier, along comes a German research operation that has devised an app for Google Glass that can detect human emotions. Dubbed SHORE (Sophisticated High-speed Object Recognition), the technology is based on recognizing structure-based features, learning algorithms and was “trained” through the use of a database containing more than 10,000 annotated faces. It gauges emotions, such as anger, happiness, sadness and surprise, and displays this information on screen.
