Eyewear Firm’s Trademark Claims Against Snapchat Dismissed

Both companies use eyeball logos.

Claims made in court by Eyebobs, a Minneapolis-based maker of reading glasses, against Spectacles maker Snap Inc. have been dismissed.

Eyebobs had claimed that the Spectacles logo was too similar to its own and would lead to confusion, Twin Cities Business reports. Both firms use eyeball logos.

But U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz determined that that wasn’t likely to be the case. He said there were several differences between the two logos and, apart from that, “the marketplace is crowded with cartoonish, black-and-white eyeballs.”

According to Twin Cities Business, one question in the case was whether the companies’ markets actually overlapped, since their products are different.
