Eyewear expert Wendy Buchanan is becoming quite the natural in front of the television camera.

Buchanan, an INVISION columnist with more than 30 years of experience in the optical industry, recently was featured on the Canadian daytime talk show CityLine to discuss eyewear. It was her second stint on Canadian national TV in the past year, and her fourth appearance on the small screen overall.

She makes getting in front of a live audience and having her message sent to millions watching at home look easy.

Just watch the latest video and see if you don’t agree. More importantly, watch the video and learn a thing or two about matching the right frames with unique individuals!

“Going on national TV is pretty exciting and requires a strong commitment to be a student: To be willing to learn a new skill set and be OK making mistakes,” says Buchanan. “Live shows require extensive preparation and yet can be completely unpredictable. You never know what will happen as you are working with real people in real time.”

CityLine is the longest-running daytime talk show for women in Canadian history. Its first episode aired in 1984. Tracy Moore has hosted the show since 2008.

Eyewear style expert and INVISION Magazine columnist Wendy Buchanan, right, was on a recent episode of Canadian daytime TV show “CityLine” with host Tracy Moore.

During her 6-minute appearance on the show earlier this month, Buchanan first matched Moore with a perfect pair of sunglasses. Buchanan then paired suns (or as Moore referred to them “sunnies”) with a handful of other women by focusing on their unique personalities.

Buchanan put into good use her Be Spectacular Eyewear Styling System she teaches to optical professionals. The results were crowd-pleasing.

“I have been on TV as an eyewear style expert four times on four different shows. Getting uncomfortable is becoming my new normal as each set is different and the hosts all have unique personalities,” says Buchanan. “My experience and foundation with the Spec Style personalities helped me to understand the strengths of each host so I could quickly make a positive connection.”

Be sure to watch for a follow-up article from Buchanan about this latest TV appearance. She will explain how she quickly and expertly came up with the pairings.
