FGX Lays Off 341 Employees in Rhode Island

FGX International, part of EssilorLuxottica, is laying off 341 workers at its headquarters in Smithfield, RI, the Providence Journal reports.

The company filed notice of the layoffs with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.

The affected employees are non-union, the Journal reports.

FGX describes itself as “the world’s leading designer and marketer of non-prescription reading glasses, optical frames and sunglasses brands.”

Among its brands are Foster Grant, Gargoyles, Sight Station and Magnivision.
