Hilco Vision Buys Jonathan Paul Eyewear

Hilco is “extremely excited about the acquisition of such an innovative brand.”

Hilco Vision has acquired Austin-based Jonathan Paul Eyewear, which offers sunglasses designed to fit over prescription eyewear.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Paul Stables, founder and designer of Jonathan Paul Eyewear, will stay on with Plainville, MA-based Hilco.

In a press release, Hilco describes Jonathan Paul Eyewear as “the pioneer of the Fitover category of sunwear and the Jonathan Paul Fitover brand.”

 

Ross Brownlee, CEO of Hilco Vision, said, “We are extremely excited about the acquisition of such an innovative brand — recognized for its originality, functionality and design. I am confident that together with designer Paul Stables, we can enable it to reach its full potential internationally as we leverage our increasingly global footprint.”

Stables said he is “delighted to be part of Hilco Vision and continue to build this dynamic brand’s distribution internationally.”

“The Fitovers category is growing fast and we are well placed to lead that growth leveraging Hilco’s distribution reach and consistently high quality standards,” he said.

Hilco is a portfolio of Blue Point Capital.

“In partnership with Blue Point, Hilco Vision continues to identify complementary products to add to its product mix and strengthens its geographic presence,” said John LeMay, a partner with Blue Point. “The acquisition of Jonathan Paul Eyewear follows three acquisitions completed in Europe in the last 18 months, and builds on Hilco’s momentum to deliver on its promise to be a global partner to its customers worldwide.”

Jonathan Paul Fitovers has distribution in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and China, as well as the U.S.
