“It Started With an Eye Exam”
Prevent Blindness has launched a new campaign, “It Started With an Eye Exam” to encourage consumers to share their stories of how eyecare had a positive impact on their health and wellbeing. The goal is to increase awareness about the role that vision health plays in overall health, demonstrate the dramatic impact that improved vision can have on productivity and quality of life, and to educate the public about steps they can take to prepare for an eye examination. Last month, Prevent Blindness began sharing these stories on its social media channels. Followers have also been invited to share their stories, using #ItStartedWithanEyeExam or submit their stories to Prevent Blindness. The program is supported by funding from Viatris Inc. preventblindness.org
No More Noncompetes
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has outlawed noncompetition clauses, including those for independent contractors, in the U.S., with certain exceptions. The exceptions include not-for-profit entities, existing agreements with senior executives, and non-compete clauses as part of the bona fide sale of a business, but it is retroactive, meaning it bans new non-compete clauses as well as invalidating preexisting ones. The rule also covers non-disclosure clauses that “function to prevent workers from seeking or accepting other work or starting a business after they leave their job” and non-solicitation agreements that “prevent a worker from seeking or accepting other work or starting a business after their employment ends.” thevisioncouncil.org
How To Attract CL Patients
The Contact Lens Institute (CLI) has published an in-depth report on everyday actions the eyecare community can take to attract potential and former CL wearers. Based on research from over 1,000 vision-corrected adults segmented by glasses-only wearers, new CL wearers, and CL dropouts, Beyond Vision: Behaviors to Attract New & Returning Contact Lens Wearers is the latest offering from CLI’s See Tomorrow initiative, which helps practices thrive using exclusive consumer data and insights. The 26-page document includes infographics depicting high value takeaways ideal for staff training, while 19 quick take columns and bulleted checklists offer implementation tips.
