Illinois Optometrists Have a New President

She wants to help the public understand the importance of regular eye exams.

(Press Release) Dr. Christine Allison was recently sworn in as the new president of the Illinois Optometric Association during its 118th Annual Convention.  

“I am excited and honored to serve as the IOA president for the 2016-2017 term,” Allison said. “One priority of mine is to continue our efforts of helping the public understand the importance of regular eye exams by a qualified provider.”

Allison has been an active member of the Illinois Optometric Association since 1997 and a member of the President’s Cabinet for six years.

She received her doctorate of optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry and completed a residency program in Binocular Vision and Pediatric Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry.

Allison is a professor at the Illinois College of Optometry, teaching core courses and laboratories in the pediatric curriculum. She works with patients at the Illinois Eye Institute.  

She is also a fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, a fellow of the National Academies of Practice and a diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry.
