Political party blames “cool” sunglasses for election loss.
A Turkish political party is attributing the results of the recent election in that country to Ray-Bans. According to a newspaper columnist in Istanbul, the Justice and Development Party lost votes because some of its young supporters wore th4 sunglasses, plus pocket squares and leather shoes, thus alienating those in the electorate who think such Western accoutrements are “too cool.” The columnist said Ray-Ban was eventually landed on as the subject of blame for the party’s election defeat.
