What Eyewear, Lens Or Technology Trend Has You Most Excited Right Now?

  • High tech glass lens options, new and interesting RX sun colors. Jesse Ellis, Claris Vision Dartmouth Optical, North Dartmouth, MA
  • Our Visioffice machine definitely sets us apart from other optical stores in the area. Our patients love it! Dave Schultz, OD, Urban Optics, San Luis Obispo, CA
  • The ability to engage patients more on their phones throughout the exam and purchase of eyewear. Elizabeth Atkinson, Atkinson Eye Care, Algonquin, IL
  • Smart Vision Lab’s telemedicine is hot stuff! Will Taylor, Eye 2 Eye Contact, Northville, MI
  • Tablets: one device for database, POS, photos, measurements, payment, etc. Louis Cipriano, Luxottica Retail, Manalapan, NJ
  • We ordered Lucas de Stahl while at Silmo. Leather and stone veneers; luxury and so cool! Paula Hornbeck, Eye Candy & Eye Candy Kids, Delafield, WI
  • The round frames are SO in. We’ve even been selling really drastically thick sunglasses as ophthalmic pairs as well, which I think is a very strange but unique trend! Heather Harrington, Elevated Eyecare, Denver, CO
  • Printed lenses. Bruce Krymow, Optivision, Phoenix, AZ
  • The trend I’m most excited about right now is economic. People seem to be willing to spend more on themselves. High-end frames and premium add-ons. Dave Goodrich, Goodrich Optical, Lansing, MI
  • The Varilux X-Series lens has us amped up. We feel like this is the lens all progressive wearers have been waiting for. With little or no need to find the “sweet spot” more people are becoming progressive wearers. Leah Johnson, Central Texas Eye Center, San Marcos, TX
  • The latest digital progressives can really help solve issues with particular patients. Getting them to pay for high end technology is the trick. Mary Canfield, Orlando Eyecare, Orlando, FL
  • Because of the “Ultimate Lens Package” from Essilor we are selling a lot of the X series. I was skeptical, however when you are doing a dispense, and your patient says “WOW!” as soon as they put them on-that’s exciting. Jessika Arena, The Eye Center, Asheville, NC
  • Love a flat base lens; sophisticated and edgy. Lisa Trippi, Lux Eyewear, Newark, CA
  • The new technology for taking measurements from a selfie with glasses on. Rick Rickgauer, Vision Associates, Girard, PA
  • Newest digital progressives. Having huge success with the new VSP Unity Via line of lenses, making our job a little easier! Leri Egan, Dr. Texas L. Smith & Assoc., Citrus Heights, CA
  • Round shapes are a huge seller right now. Kind of refreshing to change shapes from the same old rectangle of past years. Scott Keating, OD, Vision Trends, Dover, OH
  • We are using the Physio X lens and doing very well with it! Susan Kantor, Central Phoenix Eyecare, Phoenix, AZ
  • Recharge anti-reflective. Betty Aretz, The Eyecare Boutique, Wexford, PA
  • Occupational lenses with blue [light] filtering. Kate Giroux, MacPherson Opticians, Arlington, VA
  • Wearable technology. Anything truly customized with lenses. 3-D Frames. Selina McGee, OD, Precision Vision, Edmond, OK
  • Dry Eye Disease and the tools to treat and diagnose it. Mark Perry, OD, Vision Health Institute, Orlando, FL
  • I am loving the use of Ortho K lenses! I have a good number of myopic patients under the age of 20 that have used Ortho K lenses for years and their prescriptions have not changed. Even better is the effect those lenses have on the alignment of the eyes. Patients who start out Esophoric with glasses eventually move towards orthophoria or slight Exophoria with Ortho K lenses. Pauline Buck, OD, Behavioral and Developmental Optometrists, Miami, FL
  • Essilor’s Eyezen lens gives us new lens technology to discuss with parents and young adults. GR McGuirt, OD, 20/20 Vision Clinic, Lake Charles, LA
  • Using Ultem or similar frame materials. John Benzinger, Biondolillo Eye Care, Hamberg, NY
  • iD Screen has been the most well received polycarbonate lens we have dispensed in a while. Jocelyn Mylott, D’Ambrosio Eye Care, Lancaster, MA

  • The flush mounted magnet zyl clip on pieces from Clariti. Kevin Proctor, Barrett Opticians, Tyler, TX
  • My new optomap. Kim Riggs, OD, Kimberly Riggs OD, Ligonier, PA
  • We love nylon frames. Cool look, durable and extremely light! Katie McElvaine, OD, Springfield Family Vision, Springfield, MO
  • Facets and tints on drilled rimless. Also, recycling old vinyl records into frames. Stacey Harlander, CNY Eye Care, East Syracuse, NY
  • Computer progressives since there are so many electronic devices being used. Dorothy Reynolds, Optical Alternatives, Milford, CT
