  • Love what you do! Independent eyecare is the best! — Jennifer S., New Canaan, CT
  • Let’s talk more about life outside of optometry. We have some interesting people in our industry! — Ben T., Miami, FL
  • We worry about our loyal customers getting older, less mobile, and moving away from the area. We need to generate newer patients for the long term. — BJ C., McQueeney, TX
  • We lean toward the higher quality, higher price side of custom optical. Whenever someone walks in favor of low end/online I remind myself that high end hotels are never empty, and expensive restaurants require reservations for a reason. — Amie R., Spring Hill, TN
  • I think this industry, like so many others, is being changed rapidly by “advances” in technology. I don’t know if opticianry will exist in another 10 years. — Aaron B., McKinney, TX
  • I think that with all the online and big box competition, independent optometry and optical is going to need to diversify and go above and beyond to set themselves apart. This includes knowledgeable, certified staff, personal and outstanding customer service, and a niche that maybe the competition doesn’t have. We make sure that all of our offerings are special to our office, and that our type of care or product isn’t necessarily offered at any other clinic. And it’s starting to pay off! — Whitney H., Missoula, MT
  • Honestly, you’re the only industry journal I read front to back, all of it. I reach out to writers to engage with them and their shared experiences. My business focus is evolving to elder care eyecare and eyewear awareness. Our industry needs this and so do our patients. — Karen M., Wyoming, MN
  • Really appreciate the Manager’s To Do list! — Pam P., Downers Grove, IL
