The Loft NYC Eyewear Show has been canceled due to coronavirus fears.

The show had been scheduled for March 26-29 in New York.

“Whilst our vendors and many customers have a strong appetite for continuing on, we realize that for many, the risks far outweigh the positives for moving forward with our event,” the show’s organizers stated on Twitter. “We are working with our suppliers and vendors to establish alternate dates for LOFT NYC perhaps later in the year.”

The next edition of Loft in San Francisco is set for Sept. 12-13.

“We hope that the current health concerns will have eased by then and that everyone will be eager to travel once again to see some wonderful eyewear,” the organizers stated.

The cancellation is the latest in a series of disruptions to the vision industry as a result of the coronavirus.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Vision Expo East was being canceled due to concerns about the epidemic. The show had been scheduled for March 26-29. It will now be consolidated with Vision Expo West, set for Sept. 23-26 in Las Vegas.

And last month, the board of directors of the Mido eyewear trade show announced the postponement of the 2020 edition until dates, still to be decided, between the end of May and mid June because of the outbreak. The show had originally been scheduled for Feb. 29 to March 2.
