Longtime Optician Opens New Boutique Selling Vintage Eyeglasses

Laura Van Brunt spent the last 20 years working as an optician before she opened her own boutique, the Van Brunt Optical Haus, in Costa Mesa, CA, the Los Angeles Times writes. The article describes her store’s vintage eyewear collection, which includes frames dating from the 1800s to the early 20th century that she has found while shopping at flea markets and antique shops across the country. “Such glasses influence modern-day design, Van Brunt says, explaining that the artistic expression is demonstrated in today’s market of cat eye, horn-rimmed and hexagon-shaped styles. For instance, Bohemian-inspired sunglasses complement the hippie chic gypsy fashions that are in vogue this year, Van Brunt says.”
