Lenses are three times stronger than army-issue, he says.

Army vet Mac Verdi has developed a line of tactical eyewear for that he says are three times as strong as what he wore in combat in Iraq. Intended for use by police, gun owners and hunters, the glasses “protect the wearer’s eyes from the casings that pop out of the gun after it’s shot,” explains a retailer who sells them. The company has adopted a “buy one, give one” policy; when any customer buys the $139 glasses, a pair of Vypr sunglasses is donated to active duty or veteran service members. “I give somebody a pair of sunglasses and I make them happy. It’s the best thing in the world,” says Verdi, holder of a Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal with Valor award.
