JUNE

27 NATIONAL SUNGLASSES DAY is not just about looking good — it’s a teachable moment. Much of the population still isn’t aware that years of cumulative UV exposure can accelerate conditions like cataracts and age-regulated macular degeneration. Even more so, they don’t realize they can get sunglasses in their Rx. So:

  • Share UV eye health info from the Vision Council’s NationalSunglassesDay.com
  • Give away a pair of designer sunglasses to get people in the office — any patients who come in today will be entered to win.
  • Take a group selfie with your staff showing off your sunnies on social and tag it with #NationalSunglassesDay and #sunglassselfie.

23 It’s not like they need acknowledging, but even so, on BABY BOOMERS RECOGNITION DAY, ask yourself if your advertising budget is showing America’s most moneyed generation the proper respect. Boomers still control two-thirds of the country’s wealth yet nationally, only 5 percent of ad dollars are directed at this cohort.

1 After the protracted lockdown, BACK TO SCHOOL season will be treated like a gift from the heavens by both parents and children this year. Roll out a major campaign. Check page 36 for ideas.

4 On America’s Birthday put together a collection of independent U.S. frame designers along with digital lens offerings.
